The New Jersey Law Firm Group seeks volunteer attorneys to act as mentors to law students from Rutgers-Newark, Rutgers-Camden and Seton Hall law schools who, consistent with the NJLFG’s Mission Statement, come from a diverse or disadvantaged background.

The purpose of the Mentor Program is to guide law students through the interview/hiring process that typically takes place during the second year of law school. While knowledge of the hiring process is helpful, the most important qualification is a willingness to spend time with the student, getting to know him or her, in order to advise and assist in making career decisions. The Mentor Program has proven to be rewarding to both mentors and students, and we are confident in its continued success. The participating students are advised that activity in the program is NOT the equivalent of a job offer, or even a job interview.

We typically begin to reach out to law firms in January of each year. Once match-ups have been made with the volunteer attorneys and students, a kick-off reception is held to give the mentors and mentees an opportunity to meet (possibly for the first time).

If you have an interest in participating in this rewarding program and have not been contacted in the past, please do not hesitate to contact:
